Data Engineer
Role Summary:
Develops data architecture and integration pipelines to ensure information accuracy, quality, and accessibility. Optimises data flows to enable reliable analytics and support strategic business reporting. Ensures the availability, accuracy, and security of data flowing between enterprise systems and data repositories to enable data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and distribute data from various sources.
Manage data warehouse architecture and schemas to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval for analytics.
Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable data models and datasets.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity by implementing robust validation processes and automated checks.
Monitor database performance and optimise data processing workflows to ensure timely availability of information.
Maintain data security, governance, and compliance standards across the data infrastructure.
Essential Requirements:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
5-8+ years’ experience in data engineering, database development, or business intelligence architecture.
Strong proficiency in database querying languages and relational database management systems.
Experience with standard scripting languages for data manipulation and process automation.
Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT methodologies, and data modeling techniques.
Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot complex data integration issues.
Beneficial Requirements:
Experience working with data structures within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Exposure to cloud-based data platforms and modern integration tools.
Familiarity with industry-standard business intelligence and data visualization platforms.
Understanding of key business processes including order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, warehouse operations, and financial reporting.
Work Environment & Compensation:
Travel Requirements: Minimal.
Working Hours: Standard business hours; occasional extended hours as business needs dictate.
Compensation Range: In line with relevant industry benchmarks for Paterson grade.
